                       How to reboot your device into recovery mode

   IF SOMETHING I MISSED PLEASE COMMENT
 
***There are several options to boot into a custom recovery image***
########For Windows User########
#First method(works with both rooted & non-rooted devices)
Using your big screen box(computer),your device,USB Cable
1.No ANDROID SDK Bundle,you just need some binaries.
2.Download adb here(2.25 MB).
3.Extract adb.zip & copy adb.exe,AdbWinApi.dll,AdbWinUsbApi.dll to C:\WINDOWS\system32   (for future ease)
4.Right click on android_usb.inf,android_winusb.inf & click install.
###Drivers are now installed
5.Enable USB debugging in your device.
  a)For 2.3 & lower devices 
     1.GOTO settings->Applications
  b)For 4.0 & above devices
     1.GOTO Settings->Developer options->USB debugging
5.Now connect your device with your PC.If there is any problem while installation of your device(can be with LG devices) .install this or universal(for all devices). 
6.Now open command prompt(cmd.exe) and simply write
adb reboot recovery

#########For Linux users#########
1.Download adb for linux here(142 KB)
2.Extract adblinux.zip

########For UBUNTU users#######
a)open Terminal(ctrl+alt+t).
b)write this 
 sudo nautilus
c)File explorer will open.Now copy adb extracted from adblinux.zip to /bin(located under filesystem)
d)when succesfully pasted adb,right click on adb & open properties.
e)goto permissions tab & select 
 owner:root
 access:Read & write
 
 group:root
 access:Read & write
 
 others
 access:read & write         

*tick allow executing file as program.


  Everyting done now you can directly use adb commands using terminal.
  Now close window opened by terminal.
f)Simply connect your device with PC & open terminal 
 write this 
 sudo adb reboot recovery
         OR
 sudo su
 adb reboot recovery

#Second method(Need device to be rooted) 
Using device
1.Download terminal emulator here.
2.open terminal emulator
3.write this
 su
 reboot recovery

#Third method(works for both root & non-root)
**Manually boot into recovery mode using physical buttons.
1.Turn off the device.
2.You can use the following button combinations while powering up the device & booting into recovery mode.

--Barnes & Noble Nook Color    
  Hold Power & "n button" down until the device turns on and off again. Then press Power to turn the device on normally and access the    recovery.
--Commtiva Z71    
Hold Camera, Volume Up and Power together to boot into the recovery menu.
--Galaxy Nexus    
  Hold Volume Up, Volume Down, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes, then release all buttons.
--Galaxy Tablet 7" (Gen 1) (Verizon Model # SCH-I800)    
  Simultaneously Hold Home Button, Volume Up, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes "Samsung", then    release all buttons.
--Geeksphone One    
  Hold Volume up, the Camera & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.   
--HTC Ace    
  Hold Volume Down & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Aria    
  Hold the Volume down & the Power buttons until the device boots into recovery. Once in the bootloader wait a few seconds for checks to   complete and then select recovery.    
--HTC Desire    
  Hold Volume Down and the Power button, then use Volume Down to highlight "bootloader" and press the Power button to select it. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--HTC Dream    
Hold the Home & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Evo 4G    
Hold Volume Down & the Power buttons until the device boots to recovery, or hboot. If the latter, wait until the menu appears, then press Volume Down to highlight RECOVERY then Power to select and then boot into recovery.
--HTC Evo Shift 4G    
Hold Volume Down & the Power buttons until the device boots to recovery, or hboot. If the latter, wait until the menu appears, then press Volume Down to highlight RECOVERY then Power to select and then boot into recovery.
--HTC Glacier    
Hold Volume Down & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Hero (CDMA)    
Hold the Home & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Hero (GSM)    
Hold the Home & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Incredible    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--HTC Legend    
Press down on the Trackball, hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--HTC Magic    
Hold the Home & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Slide    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--HTC Tattoo    
Hold the Home & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--HTC Vision    
Press down on the Trackball, hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--HTC Wildfire    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--LG myTouch Q    
Hold Volume Down, F, A & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery.
--LG Optimus 2X    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery
--LG Optimus Me    
Hold Volume Down, Call, & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery.
--LG Optimus L3    
Hold the Volume Up, Home, & the Power buttons until the device boots to the recovery.
--LG Optimus One    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery.
--Motorola Backflip    
Hold Camera & the Power button until the device indicates to stop. Then press the Volume Down button to boot to the recovery.
--Motorola Cliq XT    
Hold Camera & the Power button until the device indicates to stop. Then press the Volume Down button to boot to the recovery.
--Motorola Defy    
Hold Volume Down & the Power button until the device boots. Droid with exclamation mark should show up. Press Volume Up & Volume Down to enter recovery menu.
--Motorola Droid    
Hold the X key on the keyboard & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery.
--Nexus One    
Press down on the Trackball & hold the Power button until the device boots to the bootloader. Once in the bootloader, press the Power button once, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.
--Nexus S    
Hold Volume Up & the Power button until the device boots to the recovery.
--Samsung Captivate    
Hold Volume Up, Volume Down, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes, then release all buttons.
--Samsung Epic 4G    
Hold Volume Down, Camera, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes, then release all buttons.
--Samsung Fascinate    
Hold Volume Up, Volume Down, & the Power button, continue to hold all three until the screen flashes, then release all buttons.

Hold Power and Home. When the Samsung logo appears, release Power, but keep Home held down until the recovery appears.

 1.reboot system now:self explanatory. Reboots device 
 2.apply update from sdcard :: Installs the update.zip located in the root of your SD card
 3.wipe data/factory reset :: Obvious - clears everything (except your SD card, hopefully)
